Carole King在1971年以专辑「Tapestry」开启创作女歌手的年代，此张专辑荣获年度专辑、年度唱片("It's Too Late")、年度歌曲("You've Got A Friend")与最佳流行女歌手等4座格莱美奖，专辑在全美专辑榜蝉连15週冠军，累计的进榜週数超过300週，专辑在全球的累积销量高达2500万张，专辑在1998年入列「格莱美名人堂」(Grammy Hall Of Fame)。

Carole King谱写创作的"You've Got A Friend"、"Will You Love Me Tomorrow"、"(You Made Me Feel Like A) Natural Woman"、"The Loco-Motion"、"Crying In The Rain"、"Up On The Roof"、"One Fine Day"…等400多首歌曲，累积有上千种歌手与乐团灌唱的版本，这些歌曲的录音版本前后118度挺进全美热门单曲榜，凭藉著这些歌曲在排行榜上的优异表现，Carole King赢得了美国流行音乐史上最成功且最具影响力的创作女歌手的美誉，1987年入列「歌曲创作名人堂」(Songwriters Hall Of Fame)，她在1988年与歌曲创作搭挡Gerry Goffin获得美国歌曲创作者学院(National Academy Of Songwriters)颁发终身成就奖，两人在1990年入列摇滚名人堂。

2012年4月，Carole King出版的回忆录「A Natural Woman」进驻纽约时报畅销书排行榜前十名，她在2013年获得美国录音学院颁发终身成就奖，同一年她从美国总统奥巴马手中接下美国国会图书馆为流行歌曲所设立的格什温奖(The Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song)。由她的生平故事与歌曲串连而成的音乐剧「Beautiful : The Carole King Musical」在2014年公演后成了纽约百老汇与伦敦西区剧场的热门戏码，音乐剧获得两座托尼奖的肯定，根据音乐剧拍摄的电影预计在2017年上映。Carole King在2015年获颁表扬表演艺术成就的肯尼迪中心荣誉奖(The Kennedy Center Honors)。

 King draws from her entire, 40-plus year career, from her early hits with Gerry Goffin to her Tapestry-era masterworks, from recent recordings to overlooked gems. Disc one of The Living Room Tour ends with a show-stopping medley of songs King wrote with Goffin, songs that became the soundtrack of a generation in the 1960s. The album offers two new tunes: the opening "Welcome To My Living Room" and the tender "Loving You Forever," a duet co-written with guitarist / vocalist Gary Burr, which opens the second set. She is also joined by album co-producer and guitarist Rudy Guess, who together with Burr, add vocals and textured acoustic touches on many of the album's songs.
