One is immediately impressed by the fine musicians on this collection, the gospel-tinged piano of Gerald Wiggins, the flawless mellow tenor sounds of Teddy Edwards and the "just right" bass and drum support of John Clayton and Paul Humphrey. Some great blues-inspired songs here. Including the R & B finger-snapping You Got Me Running, the evergreen Once There Lived A Fool, Stormy Monday Blues, and Careless Love. Spoon's rich baritone voice manages to emote and stay on top of the melody (a miracle since he has recently suffered a bout of throat cancer) and the unit swings when swing is required.
