The accompanying press release variously describes Earth vs. The Pipettes, the revamped band’s long-in-the-works second album, as the sound of Motown on Mars, Studio 54 on a space station orbiting Saturn and ’80s Europop if it existed “on some cool planet we’d never heard of”. Yes, folks, in case that extended metaphor was a little too subtle: The Pipettes have gone sci-fi.
