No side-stepping these grooves -- as they're right, tight, and very much on the money -- work that shows a real evolution in the sound of The Bamboos, and one that takes them strongly into deep soul territory! These guys have always had a great ear for classic funk, but this time around they're also throwing some classic southern soul into the mix as well -- bringing in great influences from 60s Memphis and Muscle Shoals, all performed at a level that we hardly would have expected from their earlier releases! There's a totally tight, totally focused sound to the work -- and the album feels like some lost nugget that might have been recorded at the Fame Studios a few decades back, save for a few modern funk moments that kick up the beats just a bit more. Guests include Ty, Megan Washington, and Kylie Auldist on vocals -- and about half the tracks on the record are instrumentals.
