The Babies

　About a year and a half ago, Vivian Girls leader Cassie Ramone told us about the Babies, her new band with Woods' Kevin Morby. At that point, the group had only played a few shows, and they didn't have any big plans; Ramone told us, "I don't really foresee it being anything more than a side project for the time being." But even though Vivian Girls and Woods are still going strong (and Ramone plans to release a solo album early next year), the Babies are set to release their self-titled full-length on Shrimper on February 8. Above, download album opener "Run Me Over"-- which works like an exact combination of Vivian Girls' ramshackle garage-pop and Woods' lo-fi campfire classic rock.

　　The band, which also includes Bossy drummer Justin Sullivan and former Bent Outta Shape bassist Nathanael Stark, recorded the album at Morby's home studio. Woods' Jarvis Taveniere recorded the album. Next month, the band will tour the West Coast with White Fence. We've got their dates and the album's tracklist below.
