To Be You and Me[EP]

I'm not gonna trash Broken Social Scene's latest LP, but I will say that I was pretty disappointed. You Forgot It In People is one of my favorite albums of all time, and I suppose that set the bar pretty high. Unfortunately their self-titled album was hyperkinetic, overproduced and lacking in whatever musical alchemy it was that produced such dazzling results before and even in between the two. So I got this EP with a certain amount of skepticism... which turned out to be pretty unwarranted. Like Beehives, it's full of great stuff that just didn't fit on the album, but which stands pretty well by itself.　Well, looking back on it, my writing sounds terribly dismissive of this record, but really it's a nice little thing. It's not the second coming of Broken Social Scene fans like myself wanted - but it's still good, and shows their range better than the last album. I'm giving you the freaky track cause you're not gonna believe it's actually the same band that made You Forgot It In People.
