Dolly (Stripped Back)

Geowulf says of her acoustic version of Dolly, “the melody for this song started as an idea in my sister’s kitchen. Worked on it with Ben Christopher (Bat for Lashes) in his beautiful home outside of London. The song is about running out of patience and deciding to move forward. It’s about feelings that can resurface only to realise they are feelings and not facts. I have always loved Dolly Parton and have been influenced by her music a lot in my writing so this was a nice little nod to her. Sad country music is like a sauna for my soul.”

"In true Geowulf nature, most of my songs are pretty devo* (Australiana for devastating) at the core but are dressed up in a glitzy, feel good style. Sometimes it’s nice to strip the song back to just its lyrics and melody and remember what it’s actually about. This song is a sad love song, so we wanted to do another version and honour that."
