Last X Hours

来自意大利的新民谣团体Medusa's Spell在2008年底为我们带来了其第二张专辑。这张惊悚的概念专辑以13世纪一场被史书记载的事件改编。以一位被控巫术的女人被执刑前10小时的过程为线索，引出中世纪关于异教徒与正教之间的冲突。专辑以10个小时的倒记时，从女人虔诚的祈祷到最后被审判折磨的精疲力竭再到执刑前将灵魂出卖给恶魔，并以魔鬼的口吻嘲笑基督教统治下的束缚时代发展的黑暗时代，整张专辑连续性强、风格统一更像一张电影的原声碟。这张精彩专辑的出现不仅为2008年新民谣打响漂亮的收官战，还带动了Medusa's Spell第一张被人忽视的专辑Mercurial behaviour而被重新认识。而梅杜莎的咒语依然在蛊惑着被好奇和欲望迷住双眼的人类之心。 

Second album from this Italian duo. 'Last X Hours' is a concept album following the ten last tragic hours of a woman who stands accused for witchery. Ten songs, each representing one hour of her last ten in life, from the moments of the trial--when her body is completely exhausted from pain--until her mind resigned to her fate of death. The lyrics of the first and the last song are a curse, the true words spoken by a woman falsely accused of witchery and condemned to death in 1428. Through the channel of ritual neo-folk and darkwave, Medusa's Spell have offered one incredibly haunting experience that no listener can ever forget.
