Floating-The Album Leaf专辑介绍
Jimmy LaValle’s The Album Leaf has spun from solo outlet to full band and back for nearly 25 years. His acclaimed catalog spans releases for labels such as Sub Pop, City Slang, Relapse, and others. He also composes music for film and television, scoring over 20 projects (narrative features, documentaries, and TV series) since 2009. The cinematic sensibilities of The Album Leaf were present from the beginning. His 1999 debut introduced the start of a signature sound: melodic and meditative electro-organic soundscapes constructed with guitar, percussion, Rhodes, and field recordings. He refined it for his 2001 LP, which caught the ear of Sigur Rós, who’d invite LaValle on tour, propelling The Album Leaf from his part-time DIY project to a full-fledged live act. He recorded In a Safe Place and mixed his next two albums in their Icelandic studio. From there, The Album Leaf’s touring and collaborative history intersects with like-minded projects such as Telefon Tel Aviv and Tycho, capturing a distinct boom for emotive, soaring instrumental music that still reverberates across today’s listening landscape.
His seventh full-length LP, and first since 2016, arrived in 2023 via Vancouver’s Nettwerk Records. FUTURE FALLING found LaValle working with an array of musicians, shaping slightly darker, more spacious, and synth-driven songs with contributions from Bat For Lashes, Kimbra, and many others.
He followed this up with ROTATIONS, an instrumental ambient project more soothing and calming in nature than past release FUTURE FALLING. One that displayed his creative process, ROTATIONS is perfect for sleep, meditation, and relaxation with its ambient and atmospheric sound, and features a collaboration with Six Missing.
His second single of 2026, The Album Leaf continues with this exciting and collaborative rollout leading up to an album later this year. Blending electronica, ambient, trip-hop, and indie pop, this ethereal and atmospheric project is just getting started. This instrumental track, "Floating", appears alongside fellow producer/composer and close friend Spencer Zahn (a frequent collaborator of Dawn Richard) for a melodic and cosmic ambient instrumental.
