DuOud的第二张专辑《Sakat》的诞生，源于一个文化交流项目，在这个项目中，Mehdi和Smadj得以有机会去也门考察。在那里，他们结识了当地著名的歌手和音乐家Abdulatif Yagoub，以及演奏双簧管乐器mismar的Ahmed Taher。 这次邂逅让Mehdi和Smad感到非常开心，他们又进行了多次拜访，和他们共同录制了一些当地的传统曲目。

回到巴黎后，DuOud他们决定将这些歌曲进行现代化的改编。为区别于传统的阿拉伯曲风，他们避免了用低劣的西方流行乐进行混音的方式。Mehdi和Smadj用十分艺术化的形式，巧妙地界定了这些音乐的本质，使得其中乌得琴和mismar的特殊技法更加突出。

"Sakat" has its roots in a cultural exchange programme that gave Mehdi and Smadj the opportunity to visit the Yemen. There they were introduced to renowned musicians: Abdulatif Yagoub, a singer and oud player, and Ahmed Taher, who plays the mismar, a wind instrument with a double reed. Delighted with their encounter with the two musicians and their percussionists, Mehdi and Smadj made several visits, recording traditional repertoire with them.

Back in Paris their objective was to modernize a repertoire that, in contrast to many other Arabic musical styles, had avoided adulteration by cheesy Western pop sounds. Mehdi and Smadj artfully identified the essence of the music, accenting a particular technique on the oud or mismar.
