The Intrinsic Light

Eigengrau (German: “intrinsic gray”), also called Eigenlicht (“intrinsic light”), dark light, or brain gray, is the color seen by the eye in perfect darkness. Even in the absence of light, some action potentials are still sent along the optic nerve, causing the sensation of a uniform dark gray color.

　　This is an album about the light we only see once we find ourselves in our darkest places.

　　Bio: Formed in Portland, Oregon in 2008 by Madison Asche, Álfheimr’s first release “These Songs We Sing Will Fade to Silence” was released on several blogs, with Post Rock Community saying to listen to “These Songs We Sing” is to “enter a world in that everything seems to be beautiful.” The Siren’s Sound praised “the art of projecting the distortions,” and “The love of mixing, merging and making a blend that is uncomparable and unparalleled.” Álfheimr’s second album, “Dream Sequences”, was released in early 2010 to positive reviews from blogs such as Exhale the Sound. Álfheimr’s third album, “What Allows Us To Endure”, was released on February 28th.
