Into Forever

"Sound of a Handshake" is Morr Music's brand new offshoot label, named after one of Morr's best-loved tracks (by Anticon hiphop-supremos Clouddead) - and designed primarily to showcase collaborative work. For 'Into Forever', the first instalment in this new series, Morr Music favourite Jonas Munk (Manual / Limp) and New York concept artist and producer Alexander Perls (Icebreaker International and member of an early incarnation of Piano Magic) join forces. Weaving mingled, sparse beats and song structures (Munk) with layered guitars and tricky melodic leads (Perls) into the ideal accompaniment to any first rate planetarium show - and this is no mean praise. The album centres on and furthers Manual's guitar-oriented phase, as with his last set 'Ascend', the collaboration nevertheless turned out to be decidedly equal. With similar musical preferences, but very different approaches to production: between facts and fiction, art and craft, subversion and exploration all Icebreaker International projects to date have been extremely ambitious. After the investigation and documentation of military installations (setting a series of radar bases in Canada and Alaska designed to listen for Soviet ICBM's) to atmospheric, almost cathedral music ('Distant Early Warning' / Aesthetics) and the economics of international trade (trailing a fictitious freight shipment all across the globe for 'Trein Maersk') the Icebreaker concept is now ready to take this collaboration into space. A gorgeous new take on soundscaping and undeniably "Easy" listening. Recommended.
