iTunes Live London Festival '09

The buzzing excitement in the Camden Roundhouse was almost tangible in the build up to Friday’s gig, as competition winners at the iTunes Festival hurried to the stage in order to get the best view of British Folksters Mumford & Sons and their equally brilliant support act, Laura Marling. But spectators were about to get more than they’d hoped for, as this wasn’t just any old gig.

 Sigh no more, the album’s romantic title track, was the perfect song with which to open their act, making a smooth transition from Marling’s low-key set. The song’s powerful build up mirrored the audience’s progressive excitement as everyone soon broke into full-on jumping mode when the track’s pace picked up. The catchy banjo riffs and up-tempo nature of Little Lion Man and The Cave meant that these were predictably popular with the crowd; the latter closing the set, creating an almeuphoric atmosphere in the Roundhouse.
