Cheap Sunglasses

No matter how hard you try, you can't help but fall in love with the fun, dance-worthy and catchy music of pop-rock band Status Green.

The band hails from Freehold Township, N.J., half-an-hour from Asbury Park and fifteen minutes from Holmdel, where Status Green is set to release its third full-length album, "Cheap Sunglasses," during a release party on Feb. 20.

The event will be held at the Stone Pony, a legendary music venue where Jersey native Bruce Springsteen began his career.

This fun-loving rock group was formed after lead singer Lou Montesano left his hometown in Jersey to travel across America. After living in both California and Hawaii for a period of time, he went back home with the intention of pursuing his dream.

"I wanted to make a kick-ass rock band," Montesano said, and that's exactly what he did.

The band played its very first show in November 2005 and the addicting riffs and beats caused the band to be an instant hit, and they have been progressing ever since.

"There's an art to leaving an impression on someone with your music," Montesano explained. "They will have a better chance of remembering your songs, which has to do with aspects such as the lyrics, chorus or vocals."

There's no doubt that Status Green's music has what it takes to draw you in - and keep you there.

Before you know it, you'll be singing along to catchy new tunes such as "Denver After Dawn." Each song is unique, with pure talent bursting at every hook. All it takes is one listen to a song like "Monroe St." for fans to be convinced that the boys of Status Green truly are "the kids of the old rock and roll."
