This dude is not professional. He just loves music. In middle school, he started to write songs, and he never stopped. According to Shangyu himself, the artists that influenced his music include Jay Chou, Owl City, Kacey Musgraves, and Michael Jackson. Shangyu still writes music today, but he's not producing regularly, because he's focusing on getting a PhD degree in Applied Linguistics, which is such an irrelevant thing to mention on a music page.
