Twenty-two year old Beatrice Rana has shaken the international classical music world already and aroused admiration and interest from concert presenters, conductors, critics and audiences in many countries. In June 2013, she won Silver Medal and the Audience Award at the prestigious Van Cliburn competition, bringing her to yet a new level in her already very promising career.

She had attracted international attention at 18, winning First Prize and all special prizes at the Montreal International competition in 2011. Beatrice is invited in concert series and festivals throughout the world, such as Zurich’s Tonhalle, London’s Wigmore Hall, Washington DC’s Kennedy Center, Portland Piano Festival, Lied Center of Kansas, Milan’s Società dei Concerti, Ferrara Musica, Brescia i Bergamo Festival, Hamburg’s Laeiszehalle, Klavier Festival Ruhr, Paris’Auditorium du Louvre La Roque d’Anthéron international piano festival, Radio-France Festival in Montpellier, Lanaudière Festival, Toronto Summer Music, the Vancouver Recital Society, La Folle Journée Festival in Nantes. A guest of several orchestras internationally, in the 2014–15 season Beatrice Rana will make orchestra debuts with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Detroit Symphony, the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Accademia di Santa Cecilia, Filarmonica della Scala, the London Philharmonic. Beatrice Rana has played or is due to play with conductors like Yannick Nézet-Seguin, Leonard Slatkin, Bernard Labadie, Fabien Gabel, Fayçal Karoui, Miguel Harth-Bedoya, Antonio Pappano, Susanna Mälkki, Joshua Weilerstein or Zubin Mehta. A prizewinner many times over, Beatrice Rana first attracted international attention with a number of first prizes in national and international competitions. In 2014 she was also selected to perform at the International Music Festival of the Orpheum Foundation for advancement of Young Soloists at Zurich’s Tonhalle, with the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino conducted by Zubin Mehta. Born in 1993 into a family of musicians, Beatrice Rana began musical studies at the age of 4 and made her concerto debut when she was 9, performing Bach Concerto in F minor. She currently studies with Arie Vardi at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover, having previously graduated from the Nino Rota Conservatory of Music, where she studied Piano with Benedetto Lupo and Composition with Marco della Sciucca. The prestigious International Piano magazine named her “One to Watch” in 2013, and her artistry was highlighted again in the magazine’s “30 under 30” list in 2014. Recording label Harmonia Mundi released an acclaimed live CD of her Cliburn performances of Schumann, Ravel, and Bartók in November 2013, prompting Gramophone magazine to proclaim that she “possesses an old soul that belies her 20 years, and more than a touch of genius.”. This recording joins her critically-acclaimed debut CD of works by Scriabin and Chopin on ATMA Classique.
