Puma Blue

Puma Blue is the name given to the solo project of South East Londoner Jacob Allen,from london, living in atlanta. Singer and songwriter known for his falsetto voice, jazz chords, lo-fi textures, and dark, soulful drums. He became famous for his 2014 SoundCloud demo Only Trying 2 Tell U. His popular songs include "Falling Down," "Lust," "Want Me," "Moon Undah Water," and "(She's) Just a Phase." Puma Blue is the alias of singer/songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Jacob Allen, based in London, UK, whose music has been described as 'voicemail-ballads'. Producing the music himself in his bedroom, Jacob has been recognised for his dynamic, emotive voice, gritty lo-fi sound, particular visual aesthetic, as well as R&B, jazz and hip hop influences. He first gained a following from his 2014 SoundCloud bedroom demo 'Only Trying 2 Tell U' and slowly cultivated a cult following from live shows around London & on the internet. His debut EP ‘Swum Baby’ was independently released in June 2017, followed by two stand-alone singles on the Blue Flowers label. His second EP ‘Blood Loss’ was released in November 2018, a more ambitious, circular body of work consisting of 8 tracks that blend into eachother. Live he most often performs with his band, blending watery textures with soulful J Dilla influenced grooves and a vocal likened to Jeff Buckley and Chet Baker. Originally growing from the south-east London music scene, Jacob has frequently collaborated with friends and peers, including Lucy Lu, Biig Piig & Lava La Rue and honed his sound between intimate live shows and late-night producing sessions at home. He has cited D'Angelo, Radiohead & John Frusciante among his biggest influences. Jacob also sometimes makes music under the monikers Ruby Bliels and Boss Nass, though there have been no official releases under these names as of yet… BEFORE FAME He had his first drum lesson when he was aged seven. He taught himself guitar as a child. TRIVIA In June 2017, he released his debut EP titled Swum Baby. In 2021, he released his debut album titled In Praise of Shadows. FAMILY LIFE His real name is Jacob Allen. His father was a trombonist and his mother was a flutist. The music video for his song "Velvet Leaves" features home footage of him and his younger sister as toddlers. Puma Blue 是1995年出生的英国伦敦创作歌手，原名 Jacob Allen， 2015年以 Puma Blue 为艺名出道，7岁玩鼓，12岁弹吉他并初尝写歌，深受美国已故创作歌手 Jeff Buckley(1966-1997)影响启发，唱作发自纯真心灵感受。其音乐作品低调沉缓、噎语吟唱、入心入肺、入骨入髓。2017年6月24日发行首张EP《Swum Baby》，EP 收录5首作品，是由 Puma Blue 于2016秋至2017春在家中创作并以低简设备录制的，这张 EP 封面采用的是日本摄影师吉行耕平(Kohei Yoshiyuki)七〇年代"The Park"系列作品之一。Puma Blue 的音乐与美术灵感来自美国导演大卫·林奇 David Lynch 与香港导演王家卫的电影。 誕生於失眠的音樂，倫敦唱作人Puma Blue以挑戰纖細情緒，訴說親密亦壓抑的愁思為創作命題。從小深受夜不成眠之苦，寫詞譜曲對Puma Blue來說是殺時間的遊戲。晦暗深邃的魔力，飄緩呢喃的絮語，歌曲常於精神疾病、死亡、孤獨等主題打轉，他那幾曲關於尋死的長姊、無眠的暗夜、膠著的戀情的作品，以及承襲Jeff Buckley的唱腔與近於King Krule的樂風，為藏於倫敦南邊克羅伊登小鎮的他引來名氣和關注。當成名之作〈Want Me〉寫下佳績時，本名Jacob Allen的他，才22歲。 才情洋溢，Puma Blue善於挪用文學與電影的意象，譜寫打造獨樹一格的音樂風景。首張作品《In Praise Of Shadows》借用日本作家谷崎潤一郎名作《陰翳禮讚》之名，來詮釋他音樂裡黑暗中尋光的概念，而新作《Holy Waters》則直取文溫德斯經典作品《慾望之翼》意象–渴望體驗人世情感的暗夜天使，自投凡間的絮絮叨叨。在新歌〈Pretty〉推出之際也推出了同名短片，背著翅膀在紐約市浪遊的Puma Blue，搭上如遊走亂步的爵士和臥房私密感十足Lo-Fi樂音，是Puma Blue用以向大師致敬的行動。 新專輯獲潮流媒體Clash Magazine、DIY Magazine、Office Magazine熱烈推薦 2023年發行的新專輯《Holy Waters》，展現Puma Blue醞釀多年終於自成一派的大成之作，不僅讓全球音樂媒體一致盛讚，潮流媒體Clash Magazine、DIY Magazine、Office Magazine等皆專文推薦。隨其展開的北美、歐洲世界巡演也多次創下完售佳績。 由OFF TIME舉辦，Puma Blue亞洲巡演首次台北專場，消息一公佈馬上造成台灣樂迷瘋轉，此次演出Puma Blue將攜帶樂手以樂團全配編制出演。【夜的無盡絮語：Puma Blue Live in Taipei】即將於3/31（日）於The Wall開唱，2/20（二）16:00開賣，更多資訊請關注OFF TIME粉絲專頁：
