Consisting of prolific violinist Anna Phoebe and pianist/producer Aisling Brouwer, AVAWAVES is an entity of turbulent imagination born from the intuition and maverick spirits of two compelling performers. The upshot of this collaboration is the debut album ‘Waves’, released on One Little Indian last summer. Never conforming to expectations and yet instantly accessible, the music composed by these two creative visionaries is a sonorous consequence of two opposing forces determined to carve their identities into each other’s lives. To watch them interact on stage is a mesmerising experience, distilling the ebb and flow of their musicianship into an addictive and captivating intensity. Both performers have achieved considerable success in their own right. Anna Phoebe is an accomplished and acclaimed violinist and composer on cross-genre collaborative projects, including poetry, dance, film, TV, art and science. She has also played around the world with names as diverse as Roxy Music, Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Royal Ballet School. Aisling Brouwer is a composer, producer and pianist who specialises in writing music for visuals, with an extensive background in music for film and TV. Aisling recently scored the film ‘White Riot’ which has just won The Grierson Award for Best Documentary at BFI London Film Festival 2019. AVAWAVES is about the fusing of creative energy - with each other, with nature, with dreams and ultimately with each privileged listener encountering their stunningly fresh sound.
