Wilson Pickett于1941年3月18日在亚拉巴马州出生，在2006年1月19日去世。家中有十个兄弟姐妹，童年时家境贫困。他记得每次开口唱一些世俗歌曲时，便被任传教士的祖父打骂。长大后，他迁到底特律与父亲同住，开始投身音乐事业。Wilson Pickett最开始自视为福音歌手，后来获邀加入R&B乐队Falcons，1962年亲自创作和主唱一首“I Found A Love”，因此一举成名。一年后，他脱离乐队，独自闯天下，取得极大成功，于1991年入选摇滚名人堂。Wilson Pickett生前最为人称诵的作品包括1965年流行一时的“In The Midnight Hour”和1966年灌录的“Mustang Sally”。他独特的声线、每次上台时奇特的服装和狂野尖叫的台风，令人留下深刻印象。
