The Canadian artist grew up in a first generation Bosnian home with exposure to Blakan folk music and blues as well as inspirations from listening to soul artists like Etta James, Aretha Franklin, and Ray Charles. Developing her talent, UNA MIA partook in classical voice lessons, performing arts, and opera.
Fresh out the gate, MIA premiered her first single “Lose You” on a prestigious level with a COLORSxSTUDIO performance that showcased her profound vocals. Since then, she has been building a following with more releases and a string of live shows. Her debut EP, AIRBORNE, released on June 28th, is a 7-track body of work detailing her coming-of-age journey that looks back on the past while anticipating an exciting future ahead. UNA MIA has devoted herself to creating her most honest and vulnerable songs throughout this EP — written like diary entries to tell a coming-of-age story.
