Diamond Head (Lçʻahi) is the name of a dormant volcanic cone on the Hawaiian island Oʻahu, but the band got the idea from a Phil Manzanera album of the same name. First split up in 1985 after MCA Records dropped them for disappointing sales. They reunited in 1991 with a good label deal and a new album featuring guest appearances by Tony Iommi and Dave Mustaine. Broke up again in 1994 and reformed in 2000 with Brian Tatler as the sole original member. Gained recognition after Metallica covered a handful of their songs, and when Lars Ulrich featured them (twice) on his New Wave of British Heavy Metal '79 Revisited compilation. Sean Harris and Brian Tatler have contributed music to the 1991 film "Highlander II: The Quickening".
