Lali puna由生于韩国的女性音乐人Valerie Trebeljahr在1998年组建，其他成员包括Markus Acher（也是The Notwist的成员），鼓手Christoph Brandner，Christian Heiß在键盘手Florian Zimmer离开乐队后于2003年后代替他的位置加入Lali puna， Valerie Trebeljahr起初深受indie文化的影响，后来因为Stereolab的关系喜欢上了电子音乐。但她从来没有放弃过自己的indie根源，试图将冰冷的电子音乐作得可爱、有趣和富于感情。结果她做得很成功。
