"无词歌"亦称"无言歌"，是门德尔松首创的一种小型器乐体裁，大部分由歌曲似的旋律及简单的伴奏所组成。这种方法为的是使旋律能在一定音型的伴奏下表露无遗。而且，无词歌的旋律不一定非得象歌曲一般，被限制在一定的音域之内，而可以稍稍宽广一些。门德尔松一生总共创作了四十九首无词歌。
