Dubstep是EDM的一种，以其黑暗色调，稀疏的节奏，和低音上的强调著称，Dubstep一开始只在当地的一些小地方传播，直到后来的2005和2006年早期，借助互联网的传播作用，使这种类型的音乐得以保留、传承和发展。音乐重点大多被形容成“紧密的制作与不断回响的贝斯跟低音鼓节拍”，配上取样音乐，偶尔会有人声配唱。
