Petoskey Stone-Dana Falconberry

[00:41.63]treading north [00:43.43]along the shore [00:45.12]i comb the dune grass through my hands [00:49.55]lift my gaze and there it stays [00:53.67]until two circling eagles land [01:03.65]stretch my stride to beat the tide [01:07.64]i climb up higher for dry sand [01:11.69]then with stealth i find myself [01:15.54]upon a hill where two pines stand [01:30.87]and on this white sand [01:34.05]however far i roam forever [01:38.57]will i find myself back home [01:46.78]eagle feather sturgeon bone [01:54.90]and in my left hand a petoskey stone [02:14.43]in a lull cry two white gulls [02:18.06]they clamor close to where i stand [02:22.29]night will soon fall on the dunes [02:26.05]i gather branches with both hands [03:06.08]northern air oh sleeping bear [03:10.73]oh weathered birches torn and tanned [03:15.34]winter’s long the wind is strong [03:20.06]but look at you how still you stand [04:02.25]when i’m done just as the sun [04:06.17]i shall set heavy upon this land [04:10.15]before my shade i’ll hope [04:12.74]i’ve made a faint impression in the sand
