[00:27.57]It was a homeless man in Hollywood who got me thinking. [00:31.76]We'd just flown in from San Francisco; we'd been flying [00:35.88]And driving for weeks. This day I saw a homeless man on [00:41.44]The street in Hollywood. I felt the usual mix of sorrow for him, [00:48.19]And anger at a society that makes a man live like this. [00:53.51]Later on I thought about it more, he affected me differently. [00:59.20]He really looked together, really organised. He was a survivor. [01:03.95]I'm sure his life is really tough, but I felt a deep sense of [01:09.76]Respect for him, much more than pity. Then I asked myself, [01:15.07]Why did I react this way. It struck me, that here in this crazy [01:21.20]World, there was a man, who drives no car, who flies no plane, [01:26.46]Who heats no home; in a time of global warming his CO2 [01:32.33]Emissions are pretty much zero. This homeless man in [01:40.15]Hollywood is a model urban citizen. [01:45.84] [01:48.46]I on the other hand, I live this life of good intentions, [01:52.40]I travel the world, I try to be aware of the earth, I sing my songs, [01:59.15]I look and hope for change. But out on the road, I fly everyday, [02:03.84]I drive everyday, I heat my home, and burn up so much fuel [02:13.28]That if everyone lived like me, we'd need about 4 planets [02:16.90]Just to keep it all going.......................... ****!
