[00:09.95]My story is a simple one to tell [00:12.13]Popped out my momma's tummy 26th of January winter up in Milwaukee [00:15.94]Twenty minutes later peein' on the doctor's shirt [00:18.62]Pops makin' jokes sayin' "Look doc it works!" [00:21.31]So the tell me anyways, I can't remember anything before pre-K [00:25.17]It's all blurred together and each day my memory fades like worn leather [00:29.04]But what I can recall is sweeter than warm weather with a cool breeze [00:32.85]Saturdays were heaven, wake up watch cartoons from 7 straight to 11 [00:36.72]Then it's outside to play whatever sport was in season [00:39.44]My cousins they were older so that made me the weak one [00:42.25]But it didn't stop me, all we did was play we made up our own games [00:45.94]Rolled up socks and faked like [00:47.81]they were hand grenades makin' forts out of couches [00:50.12]Mom would come home mad at how messed up the house was [00:52.95]I stayed out of trouble most of the time [00:54.88]But when I got out of line Pops would smack my behind [00:57.60]The wonder years are over now somehow I'm fully grown [01:00.28]Still I fully know I didn't make it this far on my own [01:24.02] [01:24.26]Looking back on high school I see how foolish that I really was [01:27.52]I thought I was the coolest dude there ever was [01:30.36]'Til I went off to college and learned nobody there even knew who I was [01:34.14]It all taught me that I fall short [01:35.78]Like junior year when they cut me even though I left it all on the court [01:39.32]I had to learn how to fail and to fall [01:40.82]So I could learn how to get up shake the dust off walk and stand tall [01:44.66]Learn how to call on the one who's been there through it all [01:47.20]I remember when I got the phone call [01:49.16]Freshman year in Virginia, my grandfather passed away [01:52.19]Eight years after my grandmother guess he couldn't wait [01:54.97]To see her on the other side at the funeral I cried [01:57.63]So hard I never knew I'd hurt that bad inside [02:00.13]But over time wounds heal and all that's remembered [02:03.01]Is the love that we shared while together forever [02:05.47][01:02.80] [02:05.81][01:03.15]There is no way to count all of the mistakes I have made [02:10.57][01:07.79]And I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for Your grace [02:15.59][01:12.93]And you're still here with me, You never gave up after all this time [02:21.32][01:18.44]And I owe it all to You, You're the one that got me through [02:25.77][01:23.14]You wrote my story [02:27.93] [02:37.45]This is my story and I wouldn't change a thing [02:39.17]I was put here for a purpose this was written by a King [02:42.05]Was carefully designed, hand-crafted and made [02:44.57]By the One who's never made a mistake [02:46.38]I want to give all it takes from here on out to make up for lost time [02:49.93]But what's done is done and I can't press rewind [02:52.48]And all of my regrets are chasin' me from behind [02:55.02]But the future's unwritten I'm racin' towards the finish line [02:57.67]So from here on out everyday counts [03:00.29]I know Your grace meets me no matter what the amount [03:02.98]Despite that I'm hard-hearted, You gave me a clean slate [03:05.48]And promised that You'd finish what you've started [03:08.37]And even though a four minute long song can barely scratch the surface [03:10.94]It's sure enough to show I'm far from perfect [03:12.95]So thank You for the past, help me live in the present [03:14.94]To prepare me for the future 'til my story ends [03:18.13]
