Au/Ra

Au/Ra, born in Ibiza, but raised in Antigua, has a rich linguistic and cultural background that gives her the ability to write glistening alt-pop songs that speak to everyone. Her debut songs “Concrete Jungle” and “Kicks” have over 45 million combined streams worldwide. In 2018 with the DJ duo CamelPhat remixed her single written about mental health, Panic Room. This version is certified platinum, with over 140 million combined streams worldwide. Au/Ra also appeared as a vocalist on Alan Walker’s 4x platinum single Darkside, and now he has repaid the compliment working on the song Ghost, which also features on the soundtrack for Hideo Kojima's long awaited video game Death Stranding.   “I’ve always felt like an outsider,” Au/Ra muses. “Not just because of growing up on an island in the Caribbean, but also because I’ve always been an introverted person. I’ve always wanted to make music for people who don’t feel like they fit in, just to say, ‘It’s okay to be weird, and different. Whoever you are, you shouldn’t feel like your less important just because you don’t fit in with the typical in crowd. I want to make music that will hopefully make others feel understood, because that’s what I would want to hear.”  Au/Ra is providing a kind of space where misfits feel at home, and where the listener gets to peer for a minute through the lens of an artist who has simultaneously grown up outside the system, but who speaks with the zeitgeist of her generation.
