这首歌是基于震惊全美的“天堂之门”集体自杀事件所编写的。该组织由39人组成，在1997年海尔-波普彗星出现时自杀，他们认为海尔-波普彗星引领着一艘宇宙飞船，将带他们离开。
天堂之门里的受害者都是一群善良且内向的人们，很多加入时还很小，对人生今后的路充满了迷茫。他们是一群理想主义者也是完美主义者。愿他们安息。
每种矛盾都存在于我身上，胆小而傲慢，纯洁而放荡，健谈而沉默，健壮而多病，聪明而愚钝，忧郁而平易，说谎又诚实，博学又无知，慷慨又小气，最后又挥霍无度一一所有的这一切，或多或少都希望你都能在我身上看见。我那颗期待被了解的心。

我希望是真的，那样他们应该在宇宙中活的很开心吧。不希望他们的死是因为邪教或是愚昧。
