1963年1月26日，披头士乐队在特伦特河畔斯托克格莱布街的国王大厅举办了一场演唱会。 他们聚集在后台， 以约翰为首， 创作了歌曲“Misery”。约翰和保罗非常渴望完成这首歌， 但是却被一句歌词难住了 ， 冬青树乐队的阿伦· 克拉克和格雷汉姆· 纳什帮助他们完成了这首歌的部分歌词。
