[00:08.413]Let me tell you one last story.
[00:11.675]About twelve years ago, maybe thirteen, Chris Nolan phoned me, and ask me if I wanted to do a batman movie.
[00:19.704]Of course I wanted to do a batman movie, and more than that, I wanted to work with Chris Nolan.
[00:26.480]But I had a problem, I didn’t know how to be batman, split my personality, and become the suave and elegant Bruce Wayne.
Bruce Wayne [00:35.766]So Chris suggested that I call my friend Jams Newton Howard, who is the one of the most brilliant, elegant and wonderful composers.
[00:44.550]And off we went to London, with our friend Mel Wesson, four of us, together, came up with Batman Begins.
Batman Begins [00:55.091]We never thought about a sequel or anything like this.
[01:01.863]A few years went by, and one day Chris turn up to my studio, and he started telling me the story of the Joker, and he told me a story of anarchy, told me a story of a punk attitude to music and to acting.
[01:19.433]And I said to him, "Who is going to be the actor in this? Who is going to play this Joker?".
[01:24.201]And he said to me, "Heath Ledger".
Heath Ledger” [01:27.716]And Heath gave this incredible performance, totally fearless, totally on the edge, totally out there.
[01:35.498]Every day, when I saw it daily, and it was just, amazing.
[01:40.765]Just before we finished the movie, we found out, that, our Heath had died.
[01:48.546]And I thought I should tone this music down, and I thought it is all too much, and I suddenly I realized, that,
[01:53.062]The only way to really truly show respect, to this performance, to give respect to this man, was to keep the edges in it,
[02:01.595]The razor blade, the steel, the broken glass.
[02:07.493]And a few years went by, and Chris said, Come on, we gonna finish our trilogy, we owe it to ourselves!
[02:13.516]And so, Dark Knight Raises came about, somehow we found the playfulness again, the experimentation, all that stuff was all back and,
[02:22.801]We did the movie, we finished it, we went to the New York, we had an amazing premier.
[02:28.416]Next morning we got on the plane, we arrived at dawn in London.
[02:33.434]I went to my apartment, and a journalist was on the phone, he said to me, "what do I felt about, the mass shooting while they were showing our movie, at a small town in Colorado, called Aurora?".
Aurora?" [02:51.252]And I hadn’t heard of it, and I said, "Devastated", the first word popped into my head.
[02:57.031]And I realized everybody was going to use that word, and I don’t use words, words aren’t the way I express myself.
[03:05.814]And all day I was thinking about the victims and their families, and the loneliness they must experienced.
[03:13.340]So that night, I phoned the choir, and I said, "Can we do something? can we do a piece of music, with no words, that should feel, like, we are stretching our arms out, all the way across Atlantic, to the small town in Colorado? And, let them not feel alone anymore, let them know we are thinking of them, let them know we are feeling for their hearts."
[03:39.444]And the world hasn’t gotten any better, tonight we are here in Prague.
[03:44.965]We are stretching our arms out, we are playing and singing from our hearts, for you.
[03:52.495]Ladies and gentlemen, this is, Aurora.
