2004年，Pete因为毒瘾发作，被踢出了The Libertines。之后自立门户的Pete成立Babyshambles乐队(迷途宝贝)很快证明了自己的才华，并在此时结识Kate Moss，Pete深情的表示，“她非常适合我，因为她有着最美丽的灵魂，我能全心全意地信任她。”只可惜他依旧恶习不改，频繁闹事，甚至会是不告而别是从一段时间。不堪忍受的Kate在离开英国前往美国当模特之前，在电话中哭着对Pete说：“我下次回家的时候，一定不要让我看见你的东西了。”这对传媒眼中“最摇滚的情侣”最终在交往了一年多后缘尽分手。
之后的Pete依旧没有学乖，甚至因为毒瘾发作在舞台上呕吐，砸烂吉他回家注射，最后导致Babyshambles于2006年解散。但无论他做了多少错事，由于吸毒和携带毒品被逮捕多少次，却没有因此做过一天牢，英国的法令就是对这位天才歌手狠不下心，他们坚决认为：Pete携带毒品只是供自己使用，不会贩卖给他人。Pete依旧是无数年轻fans的挚爱，无数主流媒体的宠儿，前段时间BBC对Pete Doherty做过一个二十分钟左右的访谈节目，Pete在里面谈了他的毒瘾，他的音乐以及他的家庭，他显得非常无助，他觉得自己是挫败的，也许他真的决定改变了。
