于是他大声说道： [00:11.92]When love beckons to you follow him,
当爱将你召唤，只管随他而行， [00:14.57]Though his ways are hard and steep.
哪怕他的道路，总是艰难陡峻。 [00:17.01]And when his wings enfold you yield to him,
当他的羽翼将你环绕，只管投入他的怀抱， [00:20.39]Though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you.
哪怕他羽翼之间藏有利剑，也许令你伤痕满身。 [00:24.06]And when he speaks to you believe in him,
当他对你开言，只管予他信任， [00:26.77]Though his voice may shatter your dreams as the north wind lays waste the garden.
哪怕他的声音，将你的梦想捣为齑粉，如同北风，将花园夷平荡尽 [00:31.61]For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you.
因为爱会将你钉上十字架，正如他令你加冕为王。 [00:36.11]Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning.
还会将你砍削剪伐，正如他助你蓬勃生长。 [00:41.04]Even as he ascends to your height and caresses your tenderest branches that quiver in the sun,
他会攀上你的颠梢，爱抚你最柔嫩的的枝条，当它们轻颤着沐浴阳光， [00:47.29]So shall he descend to your roots and shake them in their clinging to the earth.
同样，他也会俯拾你的根柢，摇撼它们，哪怕它们紧紧地抓住土壤。 [00:52.82]Like sheaves of corn he gathers you unto himself.
他会将你拢到手里，仿佛你只是一捆谷子。 [00:56.70]He threshes you to make you naked.
他将你脱粒，令你身无寸缕。 [00:59.32]He sifts you to free you from your husks.
他将你过筛，筛去你的麸皮。 [01:02.14]He grinds you to whiteness.
他将你碾磨，令你洁白如雪。 [01:04.29]He kneads you until you are pliant;
他将你揉搓，直至你柔软服帖； [01:06.90]And then he assigns you to his sacred fire, that you may become sacred bread for God's sacred feast.
这之后，他会将你交给他神圣的火焰，把你制成神圣的面饼，呈上真神的圣筵。 [01:14.52]All these things shall love do unto you that you may know the secrets of your heart,
凡此种种，爱将加于你身，好让你知悉自己心灵的奥秘， [01:19.75]and in that knowledge become a fragment of Life's heart.
当你知悉这些奥秘，便可融入生命之心。 [01:24.22]But if in your fear you would seek only love's peace and love's pleasure,
然而，你若是心生恐惧，只寻求爱的安宁与乐趣， [01:28.61]Then it is better for you that you cover your nakedness and pass out of love's threshing-floor,
倒不如掩上自己的裸露躯体，逃出爱的打谷场地， [01:34.69]Into the seasonless world where you shall laugh,
遁入无冬无夏的境域。你可以在那里欢笑， [01:38.29]But not all of your laughter, and weep, but not all of your tears.
只可惜笑不出你全部的笑声，你可以在那里哭泣，只可惜哭不出你全部的泪滴。 [01:43.86]Love gives naught but itself and takes naught but from itself.
爱只将自身施予，也只从自身索取。 [01:48.49]Love possesses not nor would it be possessed;
爱不会占有，也不可占有； [01:52.00]For love is sufficient unto love.
因为爱自满自足。 [01:55.68]When you love you should not say,
心中有爱之时，你不可说 [01:57.95]"God is in my heart," but rather, "I am in the heart of God."
“真神在我心里”，该当说“我在真神心里”。 [02:03.21]And think not you can direct the course of love, if it finds you worthy, directs your course.
别以为你能够指引爱的道路，是爱在指引你的道路，如果它觉得，你配得上它的指引。 [02:10.15]Love has no other desire but to fulfil itself.
爱无所求，只求自身完满。 [02:15.01]But if you love and must needs have desires, let these be your desires:
倘若你的爱不能断绝欲求，但请欲求此下诸般： [02:20.73]To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night.
消融自我，化做一泓潺潺溪水，向夜晚献上你的旋律。 [02:25.90]To know the pain of too much tenderness.
领略柔情过甚的痛苦。 [02:28.93]To be wounded by your own understanding of love;
受创于自己对爱的领悟； [02:32.88]And to bleed willingly and joyfully.
并且，为此伤创欣然洒血。 [02:36.64]To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving;
黎明醒来，怀着一颗插上翅膀的心，为又一个爱意殷殷的日子致谢； [02:41.78]To rest at the noon hour and meditate love's ecstasy;
正午休憩，冥想爱的极致喜悦； [02:46.37]To return home at eventide with gratitude;
日暮归家，内心装满感激； [02:50.41]And then to sleep with a prayer for the beloved in your heart and a song of praise upon your lips.
就寝之时，心里有一份为爱人祈福的祷词，唇边有一支赞美的歌曲。
