子女 [00:01.59]And a woman who held a babe against her bosom said,
听闻此言，一名怀抱婴儿的女子开口说道： [00:05.10]"Speak to us of Children."
“请给我们讲讲子女。” [00:07.23]And he said:
于是他说道： [00:08.24]Your children are not your children.
你的子女并不是你的子女。 [00:11.16]They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
他们降诞于生命对自身的渴求。 [00:15.22]They come through you but not from you,
他们由你而来，却不是自你而生。 [00:18.06]And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you.
他们与你相伴，却并非属你所有。 [00:21.65]You may give them your love but not your thoughts.
你尽可给他们爱，却不可给他们思想。 [00:24.45]For they have their own thoughts.
因为他们有他们自己的思想。 [00:26.58]You may house their bodies but not their souls,
你尽可用屋宇庇护他们的身体，却不能庇护他们的灵魂， [00:29.74]For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
因为他们的灵魂栖居在未来的屋宇， [00:32.00]Which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
那是你做梦也无法造访的地方。 [00:35.70]You may strive to be like them,
你尽可努力模仿他们， [00:37.54]But seek not to make them like you.
却万万不可尝试，将他们变得与你一样。 [00:40.49]For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
因为生命从不倒退，不在昨日延宕。 [00:44.92]You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.
你是弓，子女是鲜活的箭，由你的弓弦施放。 [00:49.56]The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,
神圣的弓手，看准无尽道路之上的鹄的 [00:53.90]And He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.
凭祂的伟力将你引满，好让祂的箭飞得迅疾，非得辽远。 [00:58.13]Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;
欣然领受弓手的弯拗吧； [01:02.04]For even as He loves the arrow that flies,
因为祂钟爱稳当的弓， [01:04.88]so He loves also the bow that is stable.
一如钟爱疾飞的箭。
