这首歌没人不科学啊。再补充一点吧，维基上说在这首歌的结尾处Frey几乎听不见地小声说了一句“Say Goodnight, Dick". 这是一部美剧中的经典台词，在这里影射尼克松辞职。然后这张专辑发行五个月之后他真的辞职了。[大哭] ps: 刚刚上传了翻译，正在审核~
标题曲，由Don Henley、Bernie Leadon与Glenn Frey共同创作，由Henley主唱。创作背景直接关联Watergate scandal，歌词围绕govt越权与隐私问题展开，并在结尾加入低声台词“Say Goodnight, D**k”，指向Nixon辞职事件。 音乐上以hard rock为基础，同时融合R&B元素与节奏shifts。贝斯与节奏型设计带有明显R&B倾向，而整体编曲又加入失真电吉他以增强力度。
三专后，唱片公司内部争权，乐队被分给欧文·阿佐夫旗下。当时流行乐已变成大产业，摇滚乐也从1950年代的另类变成主流，占据流行乐销售额的80%以上。随着唱片制作成本和明星价码增高，唱片公司专门迎合市场，什么赚钱玩什么，并出现了'体育场摇滚乐"，音乐夸张富有煽动性，老鹰乐队迅速走上这条路。
