科恩曾在一场演唱会唱起这首为自己爱人写的歌，那爱过去那么多年唱起时依旧泪流满面难以继续。于是他说对不起，我唱不下去了，请去退票吧。歌迷们没有走而是一起和流着泪的他合唱了这首歌。
2016年玛丽安娜去世，享年81岁。科恩给她写了封长长的信，然后自己也在3个月后去世，享年82岁。
