大概是初一的时候，用kugoo随机循环时听到了with or without you。第一次听的时候并没有什么感觉，结果第二次循环到了之后开始有点感觉，第三遍以后就再也离不开U2。去唱片店找U2的现场，清楚地记得他们四个穿着背心在大冬天里唱I will follow，那时候给我很大的触动就是，原来摇滚可以让人无视严寒。
一眨眼现在已经到了大学与社会的临界点，听遍了他们的所有歌，依然能够单曲循环，尽管今年是不尽心的一年，但是我会和他们一样，驱赶，无视这严寒，至死不渝。
最初是乐队1990年在STS录音室录制的一张小样，于Achtung Baby时期反复被打磨，最终成为专辑的一首情绪化摇滚歌曲。歌词围绕情感不稳、关系失衡和对过去的呼喊，Bono的表述具有指向性且富有隐喻，反映了个人与关系的张力。发行后登上美国公告牌百强单曲榜＃25，主流摇滚榜亚军、另类榜＃7；英国＃14。
