[00:00.59]Good afternoon, everybody. [00:03.08]Thank you very much for inviting me here to talk about safety in dormitory and personal security. [00:11.59]First, a few points to bear in mind. [00:16.14]You'll notice the doors of your dorm have two types of locks, a Yale lock and a Chubb lock. [00:23.74]Make sure you double lock your door, not just one lock, both of them, however long you are going out for. [00:32.01]Make sure when you go out, all the windows are closed. [00:37.95]Those of you in the ground and first-floor rooms will notice that you are locking windows, make sure you use them. [00:45.90]Lock them every time you go out; lock them at night. [00:50.72]If you have got expensive equipments in your room, first of all, insure it. [00:56.95]So many people lose things and haven' t got insurance. [01:01.38]Make sure you insure it. This brings me onto personal security. [01:08.88]Wherever possible, avoid working alone late at night, especially girl students. [01:16.38]Avoid dark streets, and try to stick to the well-lit streets whenever possible. [01:23.53]Also if you know you are going to be up late, make sure you've got enough money for a taxi to get home again, [01:31.49]or arrange to stay with friends for the night. [01:34.62]It may sound absurd, but don't forget the university actually offers free self-defense classes. [01:42.67]I hope it something you'd never have to use, but,um, it certainly was going along to a few self-defense sessions.
