[00:01.06]The crowds arriving this morning says it all.
[00:04.64] Albert and June Fleming from Nottingham are
[00:08.40] amongst 600,000 extra visitors to the
[00:11.44] Natural History Museum since the government
[00:13.92]gave it the money to scrap its charges.
[00:17.18] The extra expense of admission to here would,
[00:24.68][00:19.45]you know, just break the camel's back,
[00:25.75]the straw that broke the camel's back.
[00:27.05] A 70% increase in visitors in one year
[00:29.03]- it has to be a good thing.
[00:31.01]The museum though isn't sure.
[00:33.04]Well, sometimes we get
[00:34.51]so many people in on a particular day
[00:35.88]that I worry they can't enjoy themselves
[00:37.79] as much because they simply can't move
[00:39.06] around the museum easily.
[00:40.78] Sometimes we find they stay
[00:42.74]for not very long, and I worry is,
[00:44.50]it's because they're not enjoying
[00:46.31]themselves very much.
[00:47.32]What's more,
[00:48.58]coping with all these
[00:49.89]extra people is expensive.
[00:50.97]The museum says
[00:52.09]it could go back to making people pay.
[00:54.06]And then there are the thousands of
[00:56.93]other museums who still have to charge.
[00:58.79]The Ironbridge Gorge Museum in Telford,
[01:04.08] it, like many other attractions,
[01:06.05] has seen people switching to the free museums.
[01:09.55] We could not possibly support this operation,
[01:12.30]without our ticket income.
[01:14.96] I would regret also not seeing this
[01:17.99]as a commercial operation.
[01:19.20]I think it, it makes us sharp,
[01:21.20]it makes us tuned into the markets out there,
[01:24.91] and as I say, the result has been,
[01:26.88] I think, a very broad-based audience for
[01:28.85]what we do here.
[01:31.23]So while MP's today said free admission
[01:33.36]had been largely a good thing,
[01:35.68]they added it couldn't be done on the cheap.

switch to 转向 tune to收听 scrap charge 取消收费 straw稻草
(渣翻,欢迎指正,下面是生词) say it all 说明事实 scrap 取消 break the camels back 压垮骆驼的最后一根草 cope with 对付 tuned-in 了解 broad-based 有广泛基础的
