几个短语：a chain of reactions,连锁反应。sth on a big scale，大规模的。get into a panic，受到惊吓。get sth on the move，使正常。in the meanwhile，与此同时。
几个好词：incident,事件，小事变。prelude，预示着。crockery，瓷器，餐具。vehicle，车辆。unforeseen,意想不到的，这个词的变化：see，看见---foresee，预先想到—unforeseen，预先想不到，即意料不到的。
其实新概念听到后面可以感觉得到，其实并不适合死记硬背运用在口语当中，因为文章当中的长难句和高级词汇短语你在口语当中也完全用不上。我个人建议把新概念当做听力材料和阅读素材去听，不要给自己这么大的压力，大家每天都只有24个小时，我觉得把大量的时间用在这方面有点得不偿失。
这篇课文该改名叫祸不单行[大哭]
是你自己想多了。大家背新概念，最主要是培养语感、提升写作水平。正常人本来也不会想通过新概念来提高口语吧？
