air raid，空袭。类似用法：air attack。前者强调空袭的突然性，比如夜间空袭，overnight air raid。后者强调空袭的打击力度、强度，比如defend against an air attack,防御空中袭击。
bring about someone`s downfall,致使某人陨落（代指死亡，有替受事者感到惋惜的意味）。pour scorn on sth,对…不屑一顾。needless to say，不用说，指意料之中。
其实长篇背起来挺舒服的，短篇让人没有背的欲望
这个故事告诉我们 男人总是自以为是
bring his story to a conclusion by doing sth,以…作为小说的结局。an obscure maidservant,一个无名小卒式的/卑微的女佣。obscure翻译成“低贱的”不合适。be presumed dead,被认为已经死了。
这个故事里面说的是德国人吧……说明了作为侵略国的德国人，他们自己家庭也被搞得支离破碎……故事里面说的人还是很幸运的，真的是万分之一的概率
我边走路边听，突然听到naive.......[奸笑]
这么比较 Cox和家人生活在一起 基本需求有了保障却不能使用正常身份交流 不知道是幸运还是不幸。 新概念对战争的描写并不多 仅有的几篇文章还是立足于战后的个体 可能也是出于反战思想的考虑吧 即使战胜 也没什么值得开心的。
credulous，轻信的，易受骗的。coincidence，巧合。wicked，邪恶的。reunion，重聚。inhabitant，原住民。obscure，无名的，遮蔽的。
去哪儿哪儿被炸了，真的是百万分之一的概率呢[惶恐]
