[00:00.11]Conversation One
[00:02.94]W: Gosh, have you seen this, Richard?
[00:05.83]M: Seen what?
[00:07.31]W: In the paper, it says there's a man going around pretending he is from the electricity board.
[00:14.92]He's been calling at people's homes, saying he's come to check that all their appliances are safe.
[00:22.86]Then he gets around them to make him a cup of tea, and while they are out of the room,
[00:28.51]he steals their money, handbag, whatever, and makes off with it.
[00:33.72]M: But you know, Jane, it's partly their own fault.
[00:37.18]You should never let anyone like that in unless you are expecting them.
[00:41.43]W: It's all very well to say that, but someone comes to the door and says electricity or gas,
[00:48.30]and you automatically think they are OK, especially if they flash a card to you.
[00:53.88]M: Does this man have an ID then?
[00:56.47]W: Yes, that's just it. It seems he used to work for the electricity board at one time.
[01:02.47]According to the paper, the police are warning people,
[01:06.72]especially pensioners not to admit anyone unless they have an appointment.
[01:12.26]It's a bit sad.One old lady told them she's just been to the post office to draw her pension when he called.
[01:20.55]She said he must have followed her home. He stole the whole lot.
[01:25.21]M: But, what does he look like? Surely they must have a description.
[01:29.86]W: Oh, yes, they have. Let's see, in his 30s, tall, bushy dark hair, slight northern accent.
[01:39.17]Sounds a bit like you, actually.
[01:42.19]Conversation Two
[01:45.33]M: Miss Jones, could you tell me more about your first job with hotel marketing concepts?
[01:53.46]W: Yes, certainly. I was a marketing consultant, responsible for marketing ten UK hotels.
[02:01.84]They were all luxury hotels in the leisure sector, all of a very high standard.
[02:08.58]M: Which markets were you responsible for?
[02:11.97]W: For Europe and Japan.
[02:14.23]M: I see from your resumé that you speak Japanese. Have you ever been to Japan?
[02:20.05]W: Yes, I have. I spent a month in Japan in 2006.
[02:25.15]I met all the key people in the tourist industry, the big tour operators, and the tourist organizations.
[02:31.76]As I speak Japanese, I had a very big advantage.
[02:35.81]M: Yes, of course. Have you had any contact with Japan in your present job?
[02:41.27]W: Yes, I've had a lot.
[02:43.85]Cruises have become very popular with the Japanese both for holidays and for business conferences.
[02:51.76]In fact, the market for all types of luxury holidays for the Japanese has increased a lot recently.
[02:58.58]M: Really? I'm interested to hear more about that.
[03:02.17]But first tell me, have you ever traveled on a luxury train, the Orient Express, for example?
[03:09.19]W: No, I haven't. But I've traveled on the Glacier Express to Switzerland,
[03:14.50]and I traveled across China by train about eight years ago.
[03:19.30]I love train travel. That's why I am very interested in this job.
